Directorial Debut For Queen Anne’s Students

Thursday 14th January 2016

Four Queen Anne’s Sixth Form students are preparing for their directorial debut as they stage the school’s first-ever student directed musical production of ‘Annie’. Performances of the Broadway musical will take place at school in February to help raise money for the local charity ‘Rosie’s Rainbow Fund.’

The production has been organised, cast and directed entirely by A Level students Rosie Dart, Alice Knott, Sasha Eastabrook and Annabel Marlow who are all keen drama performers themselves. Along with the rigour of A Level studies, the girls have worked hard to produce the show, casting 31 girls out of 90 auditionees, with 4s pupil, Mackenzie Wilcox, taking on the eponymous role of ‘Annie.’

The production will raise money for the girls’ chosen charity, ‘Rosie’s Rainbow Fund’, a local charity that provides music therapy for children in hospitals such as the John Radcliffe in Oxford, as well as bereavement support for parents. Speaking about the decision behind choosing ‘Rosie’s Rainbow Fund’, Rosie Dart said,

“The charity, ‘Rosie’s Rainbow Fund’’, is extremely important to all of us and we hope to raise as much money as possible through donations, the purchasing of programmes and refreshments sales as the production will be non-ticketed. I would encourage everyone to come along and support our production to help celebrate the musical and dramatic talent at Queen Anne’s, as well as help raise funds and awareness for such a great charity.”

Performances of the Student Charity Drama Production of ‘Annie’ will take place on Tuesday 9, Wednesday 10 and Thursday 11 February at 7.30pm in the Performing Arts Centre (PAC).
