AS Drama Students Practise Grotowskian Techniques

Thursday 12th March 2015

On Tuesday 3 March, our AS drama students were put through their paces during an evening Drama Masterclass. The girls were participating in a workshop, which explored the performance techniques of the avant-garde theatre director Jerzy Grotowski. The workshop was led by actor, Mr Matthew Scott, a specialist in Grotowskian technique, who taught the girls about the physical, emotional and spiritual commitment required in this fascinating and demanding genre of drama.

Following the Drama Masterclass, Head of Drama, Mr Rhodri Punter said,

“This type of intense and challenging work is really first year undergraduate work, rather than AS Level, but I knew that our girls would cope with it well. In fact, not only did they cope, they did so superbly. I was really impressed with the way they took up the challenge.”
