Queen Anne’s Sports News

Monday 14th November 2016

Please see below the Sports News from the week beginning 7 November.

Abby Rogers entered the U18 Foil competition for Beds, Bucks, & Oxfordshire the weekend before last. Abby went on to win both of her Direct Elimination fights, achieving 1st place for U18 girls Foil.

Queen Anne’s U15 A team enjoyed a super competitive gala against The Abbey School and won 31-25. The U15 B team did not have any B team opposition after The Abbey Bs were forced to pull out at the last minute. Nevertheless they put in some really solid performances and pushed the ‘A’ team swimmers on several occasions to the wall.

The U14 A team girls swam with real aggression and skill and eventually ended up in a tie with The Abbey A team. The U14 B team enjoyed a superb win taking the gala by 29 points to 27.

The senior netball teams played St Helen’s and St Katharine’s this week. The U18As got off to a rather shaky start in the first quarter of their match and at one point St Helen’s and St Katharine’s were leading 3 – 1. The third quarter was by far the best with Queen Anne’s taking a clear lead due to some strategical play in the centre third opening up the space for the centre court players.

The U16 A netball team fared similarly, being down after the first quarter but then pulling off an outstanding comeback eventually ending the game 11-5 in favour of Queen Anne’s. The Queen Anne’s shooters displayed excellent team work with the defensive unit applying pressure to turnover St Helen & St Katharine’s attacking play.

The U16 B team played extremely well maintaining their lead, despite great pressure from St Helen’s and St Katharine’s in the second half.
