Queen Anne’s girls have been busy over the summer, starting literally the day after we broke up! Congratulations to the 7 girls who competed in the Triathlon Trust mini triathlon at Queen Anne’s on the 8 July – Olive Richards, Holly Bureau, Tallulah Jackson-Coombs, Sophie Davis, India Paton and Molly Skeil.
Olive Richards has successfully gained the qualifying swim and run times for the South Central Triathlon Academy trials. Only 25 individuals (male and female, aged 12-19yrs) gained the qualifying times so a great achievement for Olive, given she only started doing triathlons in July. We wish her luck for the trials, which is really aimed at 13 plus, so it will be a real challenge for the few 12 year olds selected to trial.
Zara and Zoe Obamakinwa have been competing all summer in athletics and have just represented their club this past weekend in shot putt, discus, 75m and 150m in the Kent County Championships. Zara is currently ranked third in the country for her age group in discus, having thrown over 30m and 10th in the country for shot putt.
Megan Weedon recently competed on Friday at the Blenheim Horse Trials.
Since recovering from an early injury in the season, Romilly Hayward made a successful return to the county squad as a pace bowler, taking numerous wickets. She was selected for the county tour in Malvern during August and has also been asked to attend a talent observation day at the Ageas Bowl by a scout from the Woman’s Super League Champions, The Southern Vipers.
Talia Jones has been trialling for Superleague netball teams Surry Storm and Mavericks.
In the last 10 weeks Hannah Stronach has achieved the following Dance qualifications:
- Grade 6 ISTD Modern Dance, with Distinction (through Queen Anne’s School)
- Grade 8 RAD Ballet, with Distinction
- Inter-Foundation Modern Dance (ISTD) – this is the next level above the top Grade
- Intermediate Tap (ISTD) – this is 2 levels above the top Grade
- She was also awarded the 2016 Trophy for Classical Greek Dance by the Principal at her external dance school.
Harriet Seaton has been selected to represent Reading at the Milton Keynes Junior League, National Arena League and BSBSA county development meet.
At the end of the Trinity term last year, Eliza McCreery was announced as the new Head of Sport and Lacrosse Captain alongside our individual sport captains – good luck to all the girls in their new roles:

Bella Bowater, Georgie Evans, Katie Green and Ella Harris went on the U19 England Tour to America and the Lacrosse tour with the England U17 team. Bella played for the U19A team and they won a two day tournament beating numerous USA Lacrosse clubs.
Miss Armstrong has also been on lacrosse tour with England to Australia, where they won the series, something that England has not achieved for many years.
Queen Anne’s U15 and senior girls also went on lacrosse tour to America this summer – a full report of their tour can be found here: http://www.qas.org.uk/sport/queen-annes-usa-lacrosse-tour-2016/
Congratulations to all our girls on their fantastic sporting achievements.
