AIMS
Psychology is one of the most popular A Level subjects and the most popular degree course. It is a fascinating yet challenging academic subject that demands the ability to compose a logically developed discussion, using scientific evidence to support your arguments. To succeed in Psychology you will need a high standard of English and a logical approach to problems. Ideally you should have at least a B in English and in Science GCSEs.
Psychology aims to:

FACILITIES
Based in the main school building, girls are taught in purpose-built classrooms. When required for research purposes some lessons may be taught in one of the state-of-the-art ICT suites.

Coursework: The AS Psychology syllabus covers a wide range of issues including social influence, child development, stress management and memory. At A2 you will study addiction, relationships, depression, schizophrenia and perspectives in psychology. You will study topics such as:
- Why you obey teachers
- Why it is so hard to give up smoking, alcohol, drugs
- How to revise more effectively
- How to manage stress levels
- How to maintain a relationship
Other Subject Combinations: Psychology sits neatly alongside English, the sciences and humanities.
Potential Degree Courses and Career Choices: A psychology degree which develops excellent written and oral communication skills and independent research ability provides a solid foundation for a wide variety of career opportunities. If a student decides to pursue a career directly related to the psychology field, options available include Forensic/Criminal Psychologist, Health Psychologist, Educational Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist, Counseling Psychologist and Child Psychologist. However, psychology is relevant to any career which involves interpersonal skills.
