Queen Anne’s senior public speaking team gained second place in the national finals of Youth Speaks championship, run by the Rotary Club International of Britain and Ireland.

Afiya Titus, Chairman, Elizabeth Style, Speaker and Rebecca Gee, Vote of Thanks, who represented the south east, competed against the top 25 national teams, who collectively beat more than 2,500 teams in regional competitions throughout the UK

In addition to the girls’ fantastic achievement in gaining the position of runners-up, Rebeccca Gee received a second distinction and won Best Vote of Thanks in the competition overall.

Tony Garner, Queen Anne’s Head of Public Speaking said: “The girls gave a performance the school can be proud of and coming runners-up in the Youth Speaks final, which includes teams from England Wales, Scotland and Ireland is no mean achievement”.

In October Queen Anne’s is hosting the International Independent Schools’ Public Speaking Championships.  This is being held in the UK for the first time since the championship began 25 years ago and will involve more than 40 competing schools from Canada, USA, Australia,  Bermuda, Cyprus, Scotland and England.
