Anti-Bullying Assembly with Rich Cottell

Tuesday 19th May 2015

On Friday 15 May, Queen Anne’s welcomed a very special musical guest, Rich Cottell, to lead the morning assembly.

image2Rich has recently been on tour with UK boyband “The Wanted” and having sold over 2000 copies of his self-released debut EP “In The Now”, Rich has since recorded the LP “Go Geek”. This was funded, in the main, by using the same idea of the inspired Jack Black film, ‘School of Rock’, with Rich teaching music in primary schools throughout Devon and jamming in as many gigs as humanly possible at night and weekends.

Rich embarked on an ‘Anti-Bullying’ 3 month school tour in January 2015 and currently performs and speaks at schools.

On Friday, Rich came to see the girls to deliver a special performance and some really important information about how to stay safe online. Rich was able to draw on his own experiences of cyber-bullying to deliver an empowering, thought provoking and highly relevant talk on eSafety. As well as passing on some important advice about the use of social media, Rich performed two songs to an audience of newly found fans. The event was a huge success and pupils left with five key points about staying safe online:

1. Think before you post.

2. Only be friends with real friends.

3. Check your security settings are private.

4. Never share inappropriate photos

5. If in doubt talk to someone – either parents, teachers or the Police.

To find out more about Rich and to follow his eSafety UK tour you can see his twitter feed by checking out #gogeek or his website

Further information about staying safe online for both parents and students can be found at and
