SATURDAY MORNING PROGRAMME OVERVIEW

Saturday morning activities are part of the wider weekend programme offered at Queen Anne’s. It is an exciting opportunity for your daughter to experience a great range of activities, learn new skills and meet with friends.  Parents too can take part in a number of activities including Mandarin and ‘Run Fitness’ or simply catch up with friends in Cafe 6.  Parents are requested to sign up to activities via the Weekly Bulletin.

DRAMA

A great way to kick off your weekend with this high-energy, turbo-charged, no-yawning-allowed early morning club! The emphasis is on energy, creativity,discipline and team work. This is a “drop in” club which means that girls do not commit themselves to attending every time, they can come as frequently or infrequently as they wish.

So, come on, don’t be shy,… Give Drama Club a try!

Timings: 9:00am until 10:00am

Venue: The Performing Arts Centre (PAC)



NETBALL 

Open to all pupils in the L4, come along and develop your netball skills.

Timings: 9:00am until 10:00am

Venue: Netball courts

YOGA

Yoga classes will work on many levels to improve your physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. The sessions will include fun, challenging sequences designed to improve your fitness, strength,  flexibility, confidence, and mental focus. Each session will end with breathing techniques and relaxation to calm your mind from all stress and anxiety so that you leave feeling balanced calm and relaxed. The sessions are open to all no matter what your flexibility or fitness levels.

Timings: 9:00am until 10:00am

Venue: Dance Studio, Morgan Sports Centre



APPS WORKSHOP 

Girls can learn more about the world of apps at our Apps Workshop.

Timings: 9:00am until 11:00am

ROCK CLIMBING

Climbing is one of the fastest growing recreational activities in the world and one of the reasons why is due to the rise of indoor climbing walls. Indoor climbing offers a safe and controlled environment, allowing new climbers to quickly grasp the needed skills—belaying, rope management, climbing equipment balance and movement.

But climbing is not only about the personal physical development, girls will also enjoy an amazing sense of achievement from overcoming their fears and they will learn to trust their climbing partners! Over the term, sessions will cover the basics for new climbers as well as providing more experienced climbers the opportunity to improve their technique with various games and challenges.

Timings: 9:00am until 11:00am

FIRST AID COURSE 

Pupils in all years can gain a First Aid qualification by attending this course. Further details and timings are available via the Weekly Bulletin.

FITNESS SUITE 

An opportunity for girls under the age of 16 to develop stamina and muscular endurance.

Timings: 9:00am until 12:00pm

Venue: Fitness Suite, Morgan Sports Centre



BADMINTON 

This is a fun, recreational session where you can enjoy some match play.  Why not challenge your friends, or even the coach supervising the session!

Timings: 10:00am until 11:00am

TEXTILES

Girls can get to grips learning new skills such as garment design and construction including the opportunity to sow using a machine to learn techniques and skills such as sewing a hem, a waistline, darts, pockets, and achieving a well-fitted garment. Such satisfaction is experienced by all participants when they realise that they have made an article of clothing by themselves and, in the process, have become Young Designers!

 COOKERY 

 

Come along and try cooking a range of delicious dishes including pasta making, pizzas, curry, choux buns and seasonal dishes.

Timings: 10:00am until 12:00pm

Venue: Home Economics

CERAMICS

Fancy designing and creating your own piece of ceramics? Then come and join the Ceramics Club. Girls will learn some basic techniques and have the opportunity to create some pinch pots, which can be made into animals such as penguins or clay slabs that are made into Christmas decorations and sold in aid of charity. Girls will also learn about casting from moulds and enjoy decorating with coloured glazes. Great fun is had by all, including staff and parents who sometimes join in!

TRAMPOLINING 

Trampolining is an exhilarating and exciting sport. Whether you already enjoy using a trampoline recreationally in your back garden or even if you’ve never tried it before, you will find a lot to love about trampolining. At first you will learn to perform basic ariel skills, enabling you to maintain your balance and rhythm. Then you will progress to build bigger skills, performing body landings, twists, somersaults and routines containing a combination of elements. There is also the opportunity to compete in the annual house competition and for the school at the National Schools’ Series.

Instruction is provided by a Level 5 High Performance Coach and former World Champion in Double Mini Trampolining.

Timings: 10:15am until 11:45am

ROWING

Rowing is a popular sport here at Queen Anne’s, following the recent launch of the Queen Anne’s Boat Club. Open to girls in all years and led by Mrs Natasha Townsend, girls can improve their rowing skills at Shiplake.

Timings: 1:00pm until 4:00pm

Venue: Shiplake (meet in the Morgan Sports Hall)


SESSIONS FOR PARENTS

Mandarin Chinese sessions are run every Saturday, from 10.00am-11.00am in Room O. The sessions cover a variety of aspects, from Chinese culture and traditions to learning the language itself. The sessions are a great way to expand knowledge, especially for parents who are experiencing Chinese for the first time. The sessions are casual and good fun particularly for parents who have an interest in foreign languages and cultures.
