Weather Advisory Notice

Thursday 17th January 2013

Posted: Thursday 17 January at 2.40pm

In the event of disruption caused by heavy snow, freezing conditions or other adverse weather conditions, the prime concern of the school is the safety of pupils and staff.  Due to the presence of boarders, the school will never fully close for adverse weather conditions during term time.

Given the current forecast for the next few days, please be aware that all girls should attend lessons on Friday and Monday.  However, should you wish to collect your daughter at 4.30pm tomorrow (Friday 18 January) following lessons, please advise your Housemistress/Housemaster.  Please note this applies to both boarders and day girls and the boarding houses will be functioning fully over the weekend as normal.  If the situation changes we will email all parents and post a notice on the school website.  School transport will be assessed in the morning and then again on Saturday morning but at present all school buses will run as normal.

All weekend fixtures are currently going ahead.  The organisers of the Horse Show due to take place on Sunday will make a decision on Saturday and post details on their website

The Britten Celebration Concert scheduled for tomorrow will be postponed until later in the year. The advice from the authorities at Douai Abbey is that, if it does snow heavily, access for a coach will be very difficult and that travel generally will be difficult. The Concert will take place at a future date that we will publish as soon as possible, so please watch this space for a new date.
