Monday 19th October 2015
Please find below for a round-up of sporting news from week commencing Monday 12 October:
On Saturday 17 October, our Lacrosse sides were at home to St Catherine’s School. The level of play was of a very high standard with our teams enjoying improved score lines compared with last year. Highlights of the afternoon included some phases of excellent play by the 1st team, a 6-6 draw by the U15A team, a 9-3 win by the U15B team, two extremely close marginal defeats for the U14 A and B teams, and a fantastic 7-5 victory by our U12A team. The latter were playing their very first match together and, despite their limited experience, they picked up the rules very quickly and really started to gel as a team by the final whistle. Olive Richards was named Players’ Player with Amy Ivey and Lauren Richmond commended. Congratulations also go to all the girls that were selected to attend further Berkshire County Lacrosse Trials last week, including Bella Austin, Bella Bowater, Georgina Evans, Ella Harris, Shana Hart, Ella McNeill and Olivia Yates in the U19A category. Further updates will be provided with regard to all our lacrosse players’ progress at County level after half-term.
In Netball there were also some tough midweek matches for all our U12 and U13 teams against Godstowe Preparatory School, with the best performance achieved by the U12A team who drew 4-4 after being behind by two goals at half-time. Olive Richards was named Players’ Player, with Isobel Benster and Aimee Langwade commended. Later in the week our U14 teams enjoyed some very competitive matches against St Gabriel’s School, with the A team enjoying an impressive 26-11 win. The Coach’s Player Award went to Charlotte Leaver for some incredible interception skills.
In Swimming our U13 and U15 teams took part in a gala hosted by Wycombe Abbey that also involved Downe House, Berkhamsted, Wycombe High and St Helen and St Katherine. Highlights included victories by Olive Richards in the junior 100 metre individual medley in a new personal best time of 1.26.67; an excellent first place by Aimee Langwade in the junior 50m breaststroke and a victory by our U13B team in their competition. Congratulations to all the girls who took part.
Further details of all the results, Players’ Player and Commendations are available on the Queen Anne’s Sports website.
