Sport RoundUp

Tuesday 13th January 2015

Please find below for all the latest sporting news from the beginning of term.

There was an impressive start for some of our Lacrosse and Netball teams that were back in action after the festive break.

On Thursday 8 January, the U13 netball teams enjoyed a hat-trick of wins against St Bartholomew’s with the U13A team dominating play during their 21-3 victory. Amber Richards, who was named Player of the Match, was outstanding in defence and commendations went to Millie Bowater and Sophie Lange. The U13B team also defended well, with Charlotte Derde commended for her goal keeping during their 7-2 win. Eleanor Townend, the Player’s Player, dominated the centre of the court and Alice Oram was commended for her attacking play.  The U13C team Captain, Jessica Whittingham, displayed some excellent leadership during their 11-2 win and was commended along with Ellie Toms. The Player’s Player award went to Samantha Cooke for her excellent shooting.

On Saturday 10 January, the U19 and U15 Lacrosse teams competed in their first high level tournament of the season against Downe House, Wycombe Abbey, St Helen’s and St Katherine’s, Berkhamsted, Stowe and St Mary’s Calne. The U19’s had some really close matches, finishing in fourth place overall, however they were just one point behind the winners. Alex Crowther was named Player’s Player with commendations going to Imogen Lockhart, Emily Owen, Caity Patrick and Fiona Gray for their excellent defensive work. The U15’s won five out of their six matches, which resulted in an excellent 2nd place just behind the tournament hosts, Downe House. Ella Harris continued her great form from last year and was voted the Player’s Player.  Commendations went to Shana Hart, Rebecca Washer, Alice Oram and Annabelle Roberts, who stepped up into the team for the first time really well.
