Sixth Form Centre Update June 2016

Progress continues apace. The building is now really taking shape and it is becoming easier by the day to see how it will look when everything is finally installed. It’s tremendously exciting to think that only 11 months ago, where the building now is, was a patch of grass between the old Bursary and Holmes. The building itself is incredibly light and airy and we think it will be a fantastic addition to Queen Anne’s.

All the structural work is now complete; all first fixes on services are complete; finishing off has begun as you can see from some of the painting in the pictures; the scaffolding has come down on the outside; the sedum rooves have been planted; and the outside landscaping has begun. Next comes further painting, second fixes on the services, installation of all kinds of equipment, finishing the landscaping and tidying up the site. We are focusing on a late June handover with the possibility that the external landscaping may take a few days more than that to be finished off.

Then over the summer, furniture will arrive; the kitchen will be fitted out, the breakout areas will be constructed and installed and in September, a new building will be in operation! It all sounds like there is very little left to do, but in fact the Facilities, Catering and IT teams will be fully occupied making sure that come the start of term, everything will work. Fingers crossed!
