Santa Fun Run For Queen Anne's Girls
Tuesday 9th December 2014
Congratulations to our Year 4 pupils, Madeleine Clark, Miya Cooper, Amber Richards and Eleanor Townend, who all participated in the Marlow Santa Fun Run on Sunday 7 December. The girls competed alongside 2,000 other runners in the 5km run, which raises money for the Rotary Club. The Rotary Club support a number of local charities including Guide Dogs for the Blind, MacMillan Cancer Support, Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance Trust amongst others.
Rower and local Marlow resident, Sir Steve Redgrave, opened the race at 9.30am and all of our girls donned some fun oversized santa costumes for the run. Amber and Eleanor completed the race in an impressive time of approximately 25 minutes with Madeleine and Miya not far behind, finishing approximately in 30 minutes. To help get them through the run, the girls repeated their mantra “stretching elastic bands”, in reference to the recent seminar that they attended on Friday given by psychologist and educator, Dr JoAnn Deak. By completing the race, the girls were pushing themselves out of their comfort zones which they were referring to as ‘stretching their elastic bands’.
After the run, the girls enjoyed some free hot chocolate with marshmallows and gave themselves a well earned pat on the back. Congratulations on your achievements.
