Queen Anne’s Sports News

Monday 20th November 2017

A round up of all the latest sports news from Queen Anne’s in the week commencing Monday 13 November.

Gymnastics

In October Alice B (L4) competed in the Southern Region Level 3 junior gymnastics competition in Southampton. She won gold on floor and bronze on vault. Unfortunately she injured herself warming up for her bar routine. A few weeks later however, she has put it behind her coming second on the bar in her first competition back after injury.

U13 QA 30 Downe House 31

Lacrosse

The first lacrosse team competed in the Southern Lacrosse Tournament in London on Wednesday. Queen Anne’s started the morning play strong but faced tough opposition in the plate matches late in the day. The highlight of the day was coming back from 2-0 down against St Catherine’s to win that match; St Catherine’s finished in 2nd place in the tournament. Goalies Izzy Z and Shana H combined for 10 saves on the day and seven different players scored for Queen Anne’s. The team’s final placing was 8th overall.

Netball

The U15 and U14 netball teams played Downe House at netball this week.

U15As Lost 7 – 15
U15Bs Lost 3 – 8

National Schools Netball Competition

This exeat Saturday the U14, U16 and U18 netball teams played in the county round of the National Schools Netball Championships. The U14s had a tough draw playing schools like The Marist and Newlands. They placed fourth overall in their pool.

The U16s played 6 matches, winning 4 and losing 2. They placed 3rd in their pool, narrowly missing out on going through to the semi-finals by just one goal.

The U18s bravely went with just 7 players which is really challenging at that level. Thank you to Bella W (L5) for playing up from U15 to U18 level to enable the seniors to have a full team.
