Queen Anne’s Sports News

Monday 9th October 2017

A round up of all the latest sports news from Queen Anne’s in the week commencing Monday 2 October.

Acrobatic Gymnastics

Following her gold medal at the Acrobatic World Cup in Las Vegas earlier this year, Emily Davies has won another international competition, this time in Budapest. Her trio came first beating 15 other trios to the acrobatic gymnastics title.

Lucy Goudge achieved a personal best in her dressage score and then went on to complete clear rounds in the show jumping and cross country sections of the 90-1m ODE at Stonar in late September. Representing Queen Anne’s, the competition was fierce with Lucy just missing out on being placed. The cross country was particularly challenging but Lucy and Merlin demonstrated what a mutually trusting duo they have become putting recent Queen Anne’s training into practice.

Last weekend the Queen Anne’s U4 girls embarked on a netball residential weekend to Condover Hall in Shrewsbury. The girls did not let the weather dampen their spirits, having taken part in various outdoor activities such as rock climbing, abseiling, trapeze, archery… the list goes on!

Other than testing their adventurous abilities, the girls had the chance to be coached through an intense coaching workshop, working with coaches from England academies, and also had the chance to engage in a skype video call with current England Netball captain Ama Agbeze. Here, the girls had the chance to ask questions to an athlete at the top of her game. On the final day the girls took part in a round robin tournament, with the U14A team being victorious as the winners of the U14 competition. A valuable experience of learning new skills and bonding with their fellow team mates.
