Queen Anne’s Sports News

Monday 16th January 2017

A round up of the latest Sports News from Queen Anne’s in the week commencing 9 January.

Home Lacrosse Matches

There were some positive results for the Queen Anne’s Lacrosse B teams this weekend. All four matches against Claremont were nail-biting and competitive with the girls competing for every advantage. They won two, drew one and lost one. A special mention goes to the U15B team who played Claremont’s 1st team and played with all their hearts.

5 Schools Lacrosse and U19 SW England Lacrosse

The 1st team travelled away to compete in the 5 Schools Tournament at Downe House and came 4th. Despite the poor pitch conditions they played at high intensity with this tournament providing a good opportunity to refocus prior to Nationals.

Six Queen Anne’s girls received the news that they have been selected to represent the South West of England in the regional lacrosse tournament in March.

Well done to Bella Bowater, Eliza McCreery, Ella Harris, Katie Green, Emily Oram who were selected for the A team and Georgie Evans who was selected for the B team.

Dance

The dance department have received the results from the two exam sessions that nearly thirty girls took last term. All girls passed the exams and there were some particularly high results for modern, jazz and tap with Madeleine Pavey attaining 90 marks and Bella Farlow 87 in their tap exams.

There was also a small number of girls who took more than one exam and, in particular, Sophie Bailey who took an exam in all three genres last term.

There is still lots to look forward to in dance this term; a choreography and  performance workshop for the GCSE dance students with the highly regarded Matthew  Bourne company dancers, a trip to ‘Move It” dance exhibition and the dance companies will be busy working towards their performance at this year’s Lift Off dance festival in March.

Finally, congratulations to Amber and Olive Richards have qualified for the British Schools Biathlon Championships which will take place on 25 March.
