Queen Anne’s End of Term Sports News

Friday 15th December 2017

A round up of all the sports news from Queen Anne’s at the end of the Michaelmas term 2017.

Harriet S (U4) competed at the Welsh Winter Championships recently and all her training paid off as she achieved three long course personal best’s and made the final of the 100m backstroke.

There was also a successful swimming gala against LVS last week with all three year groups winning their matches.

Recently Amelia S (4) competed in the National League Trampoline Finals. She won a silver medal in synchro and followed this with an individual Gold for her age category making her the U14 National League Champion.

There was an early start on Saturday for the trampoline squad who went to the Isle of Wight to compete in the Southern Region Schools Trampoline Competition. Amelia S (4) competed and won her category. She did an easier tariff routine for this competition compared to her significantly harder routine at the national league final.

The novice team had a long wait until the afternoon to compete and as you can see used their warm up time well. When it really mattered they performed superbly with Claudia M (4) coming second overall and Alice B (L4) winning the novice category. As a novice team they have qualified for the zonals at the end of January.

Successful Sisters

Georgie (L5) and Hettie (4) W have had an excellent end to the term. Georgie was selected for the Berkshire County U16 Hockey Squad despite actually being an U15. Meanwhile Hettie finished as the 4th female runner in the Reading Santa Run on Sunday 3 December!

Cross Country

The weather didn’t stop Ella B (L4) who competed for the U13 Buckinghamshire County Cross team in the Southern Inter Counties in Oxford. This is only one of two races in the cross country calendar where the girls have the opportunity to be chosen to represent their county against the very best in the country. Thirteen very strong counties were taking part. Racing on the day, were the top under 13 girls many of whom competed in the National Schools Cross Country Cup Championships recently. Ella was one of the eight U13 girls making up the Bucks team which was triumphant on the day taking gold.

Ellie T (U5) and Megan W (U5) competed in a dressage competition at Wellington on Saturday, both competing for the first time with new horses. They both successfully qualified for Wellington’s Unaffiliated Winter Series Championships in April.

Netball Matches & Inter House

The U14As played St Gabriel’s for their last match of the term, losing by only 4 goals.

Inter-house netball also took place last week in netball lessons and here are the results by age category.

L4 – Ffyler
4 – Ffyler
U4 A – Wisdome
U4 B – Webbe
L5 A –  Webbe

It was lovely to see so many girls involved and playing really competitively. The overall results are as follows:
