Queen Anne’s, BrainCanDo & Colleagues at Goldsmiths Feature in The Times

Queen Anne’s, BrainCanDo and Colleagues from Goldsmiths, University of London, featured in The Times on Saturday following the findings of a research project started at Queen Anne’s.
The collaborative project was started at Queen Anne’s where girls were tested in order to find out if music had a positive or negative effect on academic achievement. The project now includes other schools in Britain and in Germany.
Early results of the research now show that those learning an instrument also saw an increase in academic achievement displaying a clear correlation between the two. Those who did not learn an instrument or took fewer music lessons showed more signs of a defeatist attitude.
