Queen Anne’s Sports News
Wednesday 20th September 2017
A round up of the latest sports news from Queen Anne’s in the week commencing Monday 11 September.
News of the achievements of our girls over the summer period still continues to come in. Lucy (4) scored over 100 runs for Henley this season and played for the Henley Lionesses in the Berkshire Gold Cup Finals. Lucy was awarded the ‘Best Batswoman’ trophy which was presented to her by Richard Morris, one of Henley Cricket Club’s top order batsmen.
The Muir sisters continue to compete regularly in equestrian events. Sorcha (L5) recently came 4th in the Pony Club Regional Show Jumping Finals. Cliona (L6) qualified for the Pony Club Championships at Cholmondeley Castle in August. She came 4th in the Intermediate Eventing Championships and 9th in the Intermediate Dressage.
The U12s had their netball trials last Saturday…clearly it was exhausting!
This Saturday they had their lacrosse trials in the morning and then their first netball matches for Queen Anne’s in their newly formed teams. Downe House made for tough opposition, but the girls kept their spirits high and kept up the intensity of play throughout.
Saturday was a fantastic first lacrosse fixture of the season for Queen Anne’s against our fierce rivals Downe House. Queen Anne’s won the fixture overall 5 matches to 4. The U13A team, in particular, should be commended for their dominant 13-3 performance.
This week sees the first swim fixtures of the year against The Abbey and netball matches for the seniors against them as well. Good luck to all the teams!
