New York, New York!
Tuesday 26th February 2013
The Thursday before half term saw the departure of 40 girls and 6 staff for a Chamber Choir and Saxaholics tour to New York. This exciting trip was the culmination of many months of planning and it promised to be an amazing experience for all. Our arrival was met with by one or the worst snow storms that this part of the USA had experienced! Luckily, this did not dampen the enthusiasm especially for shopping at Macy’s and ascending the Empire State Building in a temperature that would have challenged Eskimos!
The girls performed fantastically in some amazing venues including St John the Divine, St James Brooklyn and Trinity, Wall Street. On top of this they visited many of the major tourist attractions and galleries and some had a tour of the Juilliard School of Music and Ogilvy’s Advertising Agency. In between this, there was time to fit in meals at the Hard Rock Café and Bubba Gump’s. One of the highlights of the trip was a Gospel Workshop in Harlem where all inhibition was thrown away and we all learnt to sing and move in ways we never thought the reserved British ever would!
All in all, a very memorable and exciting trip!
