Mixed Fortunes for Queen Anne’s Rowers at the Henley Women’s Regatta 2017

Monday 19th June 2017

Queen Anne’s Boat Club took a squad of 8 athletes to try to qualify at the Henley Women’s Regatta on Saturday 17 June. Sadly we missed out but the girls showed real guts and determination!

This was QABC’s last race of the season – the girls have really done us proud! We have learnt a lot throughout our racing this year – our aim at the start of the year was to get to National Schools and we did – with two crews! And to send a crew to qualifiers at Women’s Henley. Our team is now ready to hit the ground running for next season!!

On the other hand, Ella Harris and Izzy Richards both made it through to the heats for Reading Rowing Club! Ella raced in a quad while Izzy was in a double.

Unfortunately, Ella’s quad came up against a strong crew from Switzerland in the first round of heats and narrowly missed out on making the next round. Izzy managed to make it through the first round by beating Bewl Bridge Boat Club by 2 and a half lengths but came up just short against a strong Llandaff crew.

Congratulations to everyone who took part. It has been a wonderful first season for Queen Anne’s rowing and we look forward to more success next year!

Head of Rowing
