The L4 Play their First Lacrosse Match

Wednesday 11th October 2017

After much anticipation and weeks of hard practice, the U12 A Lacrosse team played their first ever match together away at St Swithun’s School.

It was a real team effort from everybody involved, from the defence through to the attack. St Swithun’s were tough opposition and posed lots of questions throughout the game.

A big moment in the game was the first penalty, which was given by Miss Doodson for a foul on Grace. Here is what Grace had to say about the big moment:

“There was a lot of pressure, everyone was saying that I had to score. “

Asked if the practice with Miss Doodson had helped, she said:

“Yes definitely but there was still a lot of pressure on me.”

Grace managed to score expertly and helped the team to a 6 – 5 victory. Katie in goal made some fantastic saves, Lara was a rock in defence and Ella was dominant in the centre. A big shout out to Grace, Ella (x2), Katie, Beau and Georgie who scored the goals in an outstanding first outing.

The stand out performer was Alice who was voted the Most Valuable Player. She did some great runs out of defence, clearing the ball up the pitch to safety and to her attacking teammates. Alice was encouraging everyone and leading by example throughout. Asked about being voted the game’s MVP, Alice said:

“It wasn’t only me that played well, everyone was amazing!”

Asked what it was like to play her first match for Queen Anne’s, Alice commented:

“It was amazing. I love lacrosse now! I only did a little bit on a course before I came here but I started properly here.”
