GCSE Success for Queen Anne’s Girls

Queen Anne’s School is delighted to announce another year of outstanding GCSE results with 54% of pupils achieving A*/A grades.

54% of girls achieved A* – A equivalent, 82% gained A* – B equivalent and 98% attained A* – C equivalent.

Headmistress Julia Harrington said:

“Congratulations to all the girls and staff for their hard work, which has produced such an excellent set of results. The girls have worked with great enthusiasm and are now ready to commence their A Level studies in September.”

Romilly Hayward from Henley-on-Thames has overcome great adversity to achieve an outstanding set of results. Romilly was hospitalised in America in the weeks leading up to her GCSE exams and achieved 9 A*s, 2 As, an 8 in English Language and the much coveted 9 in English Literature. Romilly does not limit herself to the classroom, she also excels on the cricket field by representing her county, on the stage winning medals at the Woodley and Marlow Festivals. Romilly will go on and study A levels in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Drama.

16 year-old Abigail Sloman from Henley-on-Thames, winner of the Botting prize at Speech Day for her all-round sporting commitment and performance in sports. She has been selected to represent the regional Greater London Lacrosse team. Today Abigail has great cause to celebrate achieving an excellent set of results including 7 A*s, 1 A, an 8 in English Language and a 9 in English Literature, and will now go on to study A levels in English Literature, History, Mathematics and Philosophy.

Alexandra Griffin, from Caversham, has achieved 7 A*s, 2 As and an impressive 9 in English Literature, reflecting her interest in the subject for which she won a prize at Speech Day. Alexandra also won the Botting Prize alongside Abigail for her sporting prowess on the netball court and the lacrosse field, where she was also selected to represent the Greater London team.

Caitlin Feilder, a member of the school cricket team, from Maidenhead should be very proud of her achievement in gaining exceptional GCSE results including 7 A*- A grades, an 8 in English Literature and a 9 in English Language. Caitlin will now study Biology, Chemistry, German and Physics A levels in September.

Pankhuri Agarwal from India has done exceptionally well in attaining an outstanding set of results. Pankhuri, a keen cricketer and actress, has achieved 8 A*s, 1 A, a 9 and an 8. We wish her well in her continued studies back home in India.

Accomplished dancer and high jumper Bianca Buencamino from Caversham has achieved a superb set of results and will be celebrating today after receiving 7 A*s, 2 As, a 7 in English Language and a 6 in English Literature. Bianca will study Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics A levels in September.

Anastasia, from Berkshire, is celebrating after gaining 10 GCSEs including 8 A*- A grades, an 8 in English Language and a 7 in English Literature. She will study A levels in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Music. Anastasia achieved an impressive A* in Chinese, one of a non-native speaking group to study the course.

The dynamic Music department have excelled again this year with 8 girls aged 15 taking their international IGCSE Music a year early with 5 A*s, 2 As and 1 B. This reflects the promotion of academic excellence alongside individual talents and interests that is prioritised at Queen Anne’s.

Talented dancer and winner of the progress award for her year at Speech Day, Hannah Higgins from Marlow is celebrating an exemplary set of results including 6 A*s, 1 A, a 7 and a 6. Hannah will go on to study A levels in History, Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science. This demonstrates the ‘no limits’ approach to learning that Queen Anne’s advocates. Alice Hartley from Caversham, also a member of the Senior Dance Company
alongside Hannah, is also celebrating with her impressive 6 A*s, 2 As, a 7 and a 6. Alice will study Chemistry, French and History at A Level.

Member of the newly formed Queen Anne’s Boat Club, Philippa Mundy from Kidmore End, Oxfordshire, will be in high spirits after attaining 2 A*s, 4 As, an 8 and a 7. She will now go on to study Economics, English Literature and Geography in September. Elouise Underwood from Henley-on-Thames will also be enjoying her GCSE success after gaining 7 A*s, 2 As and 2 6s. Elouise will study Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Psychology at Queen Anne’s in September.

Aspiring blogger who featured at London Fashion Week, Aoife Madeley from Caversham, has once again demonstrated her academic abilities by achieving a fantastic set of results. She will be celebrating 6 As, 2Bs, a 9 and an 8. Aoife will further her extraordinary talent in English in September studying A levels in English, French and Philosophy.

Tabitha Bausor, 16 and from Henley-on-Thames, has great cause to celebrate and will be especially proud of her 9 in English Literature. Tabitha also achieved 7 other A* – B grades and a 6. She will continue to develop her interest in English Literature at A Level as well as studying A levels in History and Government & Politics.

Our International students at Queen Anne’s play a major role in the community and we are very proud of their achievements. Sinian Gu from China, winner of the Reid prize at Speech Day for her achievements in Mathematics, has demonstrated why she received the award by achieving an A Carat (equivalent to an A**) in Further Mathematics. Sinian achieved 5 other A*s, a 6 and a 5.

Xiangyi Xu will be celebrating today after gaining a truly commendable set of results including 10 A*/A grades. She will continue her A Level studies at Queen Anne’s in September and has chosen Art, Economics, Mathematics and Physics to study at A level.

Carla Claussen from Germany was one of the first girls to attend the 1 year international IGCSE course at Queen Anne’s and she has demonstrated the dedication required in order to achieve excellent results. She will be in high spirits after achieving 4 A*s, 1 A, 1 B and a 6. Pauline Springer also from Germany also participated in the 1 year IGCSE course and has achieved 1 A*, 3 Bs and 2 Cs. Pauline has enjoyed her time at Queen Anne’s, we are delighted that she has decided to continue her sixth form studies here in September.

Spanish twins, Cristina and Lucia Gonzalez-Cobos Garcia have been a great asset to the Queen Anne’s community and both can be proud of the results that they have achieved. Cristina attained 3 A*s and 2 As with Lucia gaining 3 A*s, a B and a C.
