Crowther and De Mulder Help Southwest Come Top At Tournament

Tuesday 1st April 2014

Alexandra Crowther (L6) and Jessica De Mulder (L6) both competed in the Under U19 South West Tournament at St. Swithun’s School on Sunday 30 March. Players were selected through the Berkshire County U19 A team and had to attend a gruelling two day selection event and further training.

Fellow trialist, Fiona Gray, L6, said, “ The trials were a great experience. I really learned a lot from the coaches.”

The Southwest team is a parallel set up to the England Development and has different selection criteria. U19 Southwest Head coach Martha Cornbooks clarified the situation to players by stating,“Southwest Under 19’s purpose is to provide you with new insights regarding the game of lacrosse both on and off the pitch, to promote your improvement as an individual with regards to skills and strategies as well as to prepare you for the other expectations of training & trials situations at higher levels of the game in the future.”

It was a fantastic day of lacrosse with both the A and B teams winning the tournament!  “It was an amazing experience to play with so many new people. It was a lot of fun to compete in and made all the better for winning” said Alexandra, who played for the A team.

A Team Tournament Results:

  • South West 10 – South East 8
  • South West 11 – North 7
  • South East 14 – North 14

B Team Tournament Results:

  • South West 15 – South East 13
  • South West 15 – North 5
  • South East 21 – North 4
