For the first time Queen Anne’s school will be attending this year’s 18th London International Model United Nations Conference, taking place in London from February 24th to February 26th 2017.
This trip to the MUN conference, which has been organised by Dr. Jonathan Beale with Dr. Amy Fancourt and Mrs. Sandra Smith attending, will be represented by 13 Sixth Formers who will be taking on the roles of world leaders. The girls have each prepared two ‘Position Papers’ summarising the stance of the nation they are representing and have familiarised themselves with state policy, ideas and cultures different to their own. This ultimately encourages the development of essential skills, such as strong leadership, innovative thinking and public speaking, negotiation, mediation and consensus-building, and the ability to rapidly form relationships with people of different backgrounds and cultures. With only 10% of the 1,800 students at the conference being school students, the majority being university students, it is a privilege to be going to this prestigious event.
