Wilkins House 'End Of Term Outing'

Monday 3rd August 2015

Wilkins House thoroughly deserved their ‘End of School Year House Outing’ at the end of the Trinity Term.  The girls considered many different options but bravely went for the fun, wet and cold water sports action on the River Thames.

Wilkins House speed marched down to the River Thames led by Mr Blunt, who convinced the girls it was not raining and all would be well.

On arriving at the Wokingham Waterside Centre (in Reading!?) the girls met Matt and all the other instructors and it became quickly obvious to all it was going to be a very busy and fun day on the water.

Activities included a round robin of kayaking, Canadian Canoeing and Katakanu.  All the girls had the opportunity to do something they had not experienced before, some overcame their fears (very noisily in some cases!) and many discovered they had a real skill for being on the water.

At the end of the activity session, the now indomitable Wilkins girls had the opportunity to run off the jetty and throw/launch themselves into the water.  Our photographs really do sum up how much fun and commitment was on display throughout the day.

Mr Blunt passed comment.

“What a brilliant bunch of girls – all going for it and having fun.  Not sure the local wildlife would have appreciated the noise and enthusiasm though!!’”

The BBQ prepared by Belinda (Centre Manager) was something to die for and rounded off a brilliant day.  There was not a burger left in sight!!

Matt and the other centre instructors passed comment to the Wilkins staff that the girls willingness to try anything with a big smile had made their day.  Super stuff!
