Showcase Success

Monday 10th November 2014

Not to be outdone by the excellent Drama Showcase from our A Level students just over a week ago, the GCSE dramanauts took up the baton with panache at their Showcase on Thursday 6 November.

The audience was treated to 45 minutes of high quality drama as some of the L5 GCSE girls performed two pieces they had devised themselves based on the theme of “Fairy Tales”. During their performances, the girls showed an excellent mastery of the drama skills they have been learning about this term.

Some of the U5 GCSE dramanauts then performed some scripted pieces; they did so with real energy, commitment and focus. It was so enjoyable and rewarding for us to see such a wide variety of styles and subject matter. It had been a particularly busy week for some of the U5 girls since some of them had been involved in auditions for the Sixth Form Drama Scholarships and, in addition to that, the ever-beaming Olivia Dunning had also been performing most nights in a principal role in “The Sound of Music” at the Kenton theatre in Henley. We like to keep them busy in the drama department!

The next event in dramaramaland is on Monday 10 November when award-winning actor Gerard Logan from the RSC performs his new one-man play. Gerard will then be treated to a tastebud-tempting buffet supper hosted by our A Level students and an informal “Q & A” session. He will then run an evening workshop with the girls on “Acting in Shakespeare and the Classics”.
