Results: Netball Round 2, Independent Schools Netball Cup vs Bedford Girls School

Tuesday 15th October 2013

Monday 14 October

Final Score: 30-11

Queen Anne’s made a strong start to the first quarter, but needed to apply a large amount of defensive pressure, in order to overcome a solid, Bedford team.  The fast paced game suited our squad and with excellent shooting from Natalia Jones and Annabelle Roberts, Queen Anne’s were winning, 6-3 at the break.

During the second quarter, the circle defence were able to dominate; successfully rebounding every missed shot and achieving a number of clean interceptions.  The score was 16-9 at half time.

After the break, the team changed positions in order to try out a variety of playing combinations.  Despite this, the momentum of the game was unaffected and Queen Anne’s continued to dominate.  This was a clear demonstration of the superb flexibility and quality of the players in this squad.  Abigail Sloman, (the eventual Player of the Match,) should be commended for her excellent play after a turnover, where she successfully made a large number of interceptions, which were then converted into goals.  In the final quarter, the girls’ fitness was tested, but all maintained their quality and pace, until the final whistle.

I would like to commend the girls on a superb team performance and congratulate them as they progress to the third round of the competition.
