Results: Inter-House Rowing Competition

Monday 23rd September 2013

Tuesday 17 September

It was with great excitement and trepidation that 120 competitors began their warm up for the first inter-house event of the year. This is certainly one of the most exciting and noisiest events with girls from each house competing to row the furthest in either 2 minutes (juniors) or 3 minutes (seniors). The support from everyone is phenomenal and the race is not won until the last metre is rowed. There were some very close finishes on the day. All competitors and their supporters can watch the progress of their team as the boats are shown travelling on a big screen.

The competition finishes with a team of 4 from each house rowing over a distance of 1609m (1 mile) to see who can get there in the quickest time. The trick is to practise the change overs as these can win or lose a race in a few seconds. Congratulations to all who competed and especially to the winners.

A big thank you to Mr Bouwer for organising this event and we look forward to the winners defending their title next year.
