Queen Anne’s Girls Play Lacrosse For England U19’s in Canada
Wednesday 25th September 2013
In July of this year, Harriet Foster, U6, and Jess De Mulder, L6, represented England at the U19 Lacrosse Festival in Oshawa, near Toronto, Canada which was played in conjunction with the 2013 Women’s Lacrosse World Cup.
England sent two U19 teams to Canada where they each played four warm-up games and six festival games. Harriet, who captained one of the England teams, and Jess both scored a good number of goals as their team won four of their six festival games. This was an excellent performance as the England girls struggled playing in temperatures over 30ᵒC.
In addition to playing lots of lacrosse and supporting the England women’s team, there was also time for some sightseeing, including trips to Niagara Falls and the Toronto Bay Islands as well as going to the top of the CN Tower and visiting the Rogers Centre stadium, home of the Toronto Blue Jays baseball team.
Harriet said “this was a fantastic and unforgettable tour. The team have begun to work well together as we build towards the U19 World Cup in 2015.” Jessica said, “It was amazing to gain some lacrosse experience against Canadian, American and Dutch teams with different playing styles to over here in England. I am now very excited for the season ahead.”
