Queen Anne’s Girls Play Lacrosse for England U19’s in Canada
Friday 4th October 2013
Two Sixth Form students from Queen Anne’s have represented England at the Under 19 Lacrosse Festival in Oshawa, Canada. The festival, held between 10 – 20 July, was played in conjunction with the 2013 Women’s Lacrosse World Cup, run by The Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL).
Harriet Foster, U6, and Jess De Mulder, L6, were included in the two Under 19 England teams sent to Canada to play in four warm-up games and six festival games. Harriet, who captained one of the England teams, and Jessica both scored goals helping their team to win four of their six festival games whilst playing in temperatures of over 30 degrees. England are now ranked 4th in the world following a close defeat by Australia for the Bronze medal position.
Harriet said “This was a fantastic and unforgettable tour. The team have begun to work well together as we build towards the U19 World Cup in 2015.”
Jessica said, “It was amazing to gain lacrosse experience against Canadian, American and Dutch teams who play with different styles compared with the English squad. I am now very excited for the season ahead.”
