Queen Anne’s girls off on volunteer trip of a lifetime
Thursday 27th June 2013
On Friday 5 July, Katie Chorley, L6, and Emily Green, L6, will be flying out to South Africa for two weeks to teach English in schools and participate with community work as part of the award-winning ‘Edge of Africa’ volunteer project.
Emily and Katie were inspired to organise their trip with ‘Edge of Africa’ after hearing a talk from a similar organization. The girls spent an extensive period of time completing background research to find the best experience which worked for them both.
During their two week trip to South Africa, the Queen Anne’s girls will be travelling around Knysna, located on the shores of the Knysna Estuary, visiting numerous villages and fully immerse themselves in the local culture. The girls are also planning to make a video diary documenting all their volunteering experiences.
The ‘Edge of Africa’ project is an award-winning volunteer project Co-ordinator for gap year placements, work experience and volunteer internships in Africa.
