Performers Praised by Professional

Monday 20th October 2014

The L6 dramanauts reached new heights when they performed at the first drama offering of the year on Thursday 16 October. The performers, Rosie, Alice and Caitlin  received high praise from actress (and former Queen Anne’s girl) Nicola Millbank who had taken time out from her busy schedule of filming to support the showcase.

The girls performed shortened versions of two classics of modern drama, Jean Genet’s absurdist piece “The Maids” and Mike Leigh’s black comedy “Abigail’s Party.” Nicola, who has appeared in “Mr Selfridge”, “Silent Witness”, “Pramface”, “Mount Pleasant”, heaped praise on the girls and then gave a presentation to them and their parents about drama school and her experiences as a professional actor. Following her presentation, there was also a Q&A session. Nicky, who left Queen Anne’s in 2006, is currently busy filming the third series of “Mount Pleasant” up in Manchester and a new pilot television series, which she has co-written, called “Flatmates”.

Next month’s drama highlights are the L5 Showcase on Thursday 6 November, which takes place in the Performing Arts Centre at 7.30pm and a performance and Masterclass with actor Gerard Logan, formerly of the Royal Shakespeare Company on Monday 10 November. The main drama production this term is “A Christmas Carol” with performances taking place from 4 – 6 December. Bah! Humbug!
