Mesmerising Perfomances at Drama Showcase
Thursday 3rd October 2013
An audience of about 150 were treated to some excellent performances during the drama department’s first offering of the new academic year. About 15 girls performed speeches they had prepared for their LAMDA speech and drama exams last term. The performances ranged from the comic (Rosie Dart’s “Blood Brothers”) to the downright scary (Caitlin Croke’s Jack from “Lord of the Flies”).
All the girls performing had passed their recent LAMDA exams with either a merit or distinction (or, as we say in dramaramaland, “merries” or “stinkers”!). Many had also won gold medals at this year’s Woodley Arts Festival (Sophie McAlpine, L6, who gave a mesmerising performance as Lady Macbeth, won the Festival’s “Best Performance in Show” award for two year’s running).
The next offering from dramaramaland will be our performance of “Twelfth Night” on 15 October at South Hill Park Arts Centre in Bracknell when we participate in the national School’s Shakespeare Festival.
