Medals Galore At The Berkshire County Schools' Athletics Championships

Tuesday 16th June 2015

There were some excellent performances by Queen Anne’s girls representing the Reading Schools’ Athletics Association at the Berkshire County Schools’ Championships on Saturday 13 June, with a total of four medallists and ten top eight places.

In the senior team, Rosie Griffin was crowned County Champion in the 1500 metres and Lauren Church was second in the 1500m Steeplechase, just missing out on a personal best time despite having a fall at the water jump.

In the Intermediate age groups, Bella Bowater was 2nd in the Javelin, throwing a season’s best of 30.65m and in the 80 meters Hurdles, Amy Turner ran a lifetime best of 13.8 seconds to finish in 3rd place. Ella Harris finished 4th in the Shot and Georgina Evans ran a personal best in both her heat and final in the 300 meters, finishing in 5th place in 46.1 seconds. Nia Hudson was also 5th in the High Jump, gradually returning to form after an injury.

In the Junior category, Bianca Buencamino jumped a personal best of 1.40 metres to finish in 7th place and there were two 8th place finishers, Annabelle Roberts in the Discus and Maisie Pennant in the 800 metres. Well done to all the Queen Anne’s girls who took part in this County level competition. Full results are detailed below.
