Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Expedition To Ashdown Forest

Thursday 14th May 2015

Sixty-one U4 and L5 Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Expedition participants really stepped up to the plate and successfully completed their two-day Bronze qualifying expedition in Ashdown Forest on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 April.

The girls were very well prepared, having survived tough arctic conditions over a longer period back in early March. Saturday involved a day walk navigating through some beautiful rolling Sussex countryside.  Several groups finished in record time navigating superbly well and having time to enjoy the late afternoon sunshine and see Mr Blunt running around the campsite celebrating Ipswich Town’s latest football triumph!!  All the groups settled down early (ish!!??) for a good night’s sleep ready for whatever Day two would bring them.  Thankfully the weather gods were kind and Sunday provided perfect walking conditions – dry, cool and clear.  Perfect!  Queen Anne’s girls responded with a day of little navigational error and displayed great team work.

Sam Sykes Ltd watched the girls’ presentations on completion of their journeys and expressed to Mr Blunt that Queen Anne’s School really is a flagship school for their company’s reputation.  High praise indeed!

Mr Blunt would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Steven Jackson, and two of our GAP students,  Hannah Kerr and Carla Zwerenz, who supported and encouraged the girls throughout the expedition.
