School Concert

The old school hall was filled with parents, staff and friends on Wednesday evening to see the School Concert, featuring musicians and singers from Queen Anne's and Shiplake College.

The concert brought together the orchestra, strings, choir, soloists and instrumentalists for a superb performance.

The evening programme included March and Coranto from Five Courtly Dances by Benjamin Britten, Overture for Farnham, and the 2nd and 3rd movements from Bassoon Concerto in Bb Major by Mozart.

Jo McCreery sang George Gershwin's Someone to watch over me, Yunwei Huang played Novelette in C Major by Francis Poulenc and Charlotte Rowe played solo bassoon.

Following an interval Shiplake College and the Chamber Choir performed The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace, by Karl Jenkins, an emotive piece that was commissioned to commemorate the millennium by the Royal Armouries.

John Padley, Director of Music, said: ‘We were delighted to welcome Shiplake College to join us for this wonderful performance.  I would like to thank everyone who was involved for their hard work and dedication, without which this would not have been possible'.
