The Year 8 girls visited the Microsoft Campus at Thames Valley Business Park in Reading, to take part in the globally run DigiGirlz programme, which offers students an opportunity to learn about careers in technology, connect with Microsoft employees, and participate in hands-on computer and technology workshops.
The team of Queen Anne's students came first out of 20 competing teams from other schools, working on an assignment to develop ‘the next big accessory in technology'. The girls designed a set of revolutionary hi-tech glasses, which change colour depending on the mood of the wearer. The glasses included a retina security scan, a voice recognition facility, a built in camera and projector, Bluetooth and an ipod/mp3 player.

Dr Tony Lennard, Head of ICT, said: ‘The DigiGirlz Day provides an excellent opportunity for the girls to experience, first hand, what it is like to develop cutting-edge technologies. The girls worked very well as a team and their winning entry showed great imagination'.
