Lydia Marshall has been awarded a place in the junior section of the National Youth Choir (NYC) at just 12 years old. The NYC is recognised as one of the most outstanding choirs in the world, taking its members into advanced areas of choral repertoire and giving them experience of professional rehearsal and performance. The NYC director is Mike Brewer OBE.
Violinist, Lucy Lowe (L5), has gained a place in the National Children's Orchestra (NCO). Every year the NCO auditions over 800 children who hope to join one of their five age-banded orchestras, which provide talented children with the chance to play in a full symphony orchestra. Members receive top-class tuition on residential courses and have the opportunity to perform at concerts throughout the UK.
YunWei Huang has been offered a place to read music at Trinity College, London, one of the premier institutions in the United Kingdom for the study of music. YunWei will join Trinity in September 2010, following her A Levels.
Nearly two thirds of music students at Queen Anne's learn an instrument and many take part in the school's choirs, ensembles, orchestras, jazz and swing bands.
The chamber choir toured Venice in summer 2009 and will sing at Notre Dame during their joint Paris tour with Shiplake College in the spring term. In addition, the choir performs at Westminster Abbey, Dorchester Abbey, Reading Minster, Oxford and other venues.
