End of Term News

The last week of term brought much laughter and happiness to all as we concluded an action packed term.

 Bust up!

The much loved tradition of 'Bust Up!' took place on the Friday before the end of term and marked the start of a busy weekend.

Old Girls' Inter-House Lacrosse

We welcomed some of our old girls back to play in an inter-house lacrosse match, which was hard fought on all sides in true Queen Anne's tradition, even going to 'golden goals', and the overall winner was Wilkins House. Our visitors also enjoyed some shopping at a Christmas Fair in Café 6, organised in aid of The Alexander Rose Charity and a project involving QAS girls helping children in Tanzania.

School Concert

This was followed by an end of term concert, in which old girls also participated, featuring the L4 Choir, the Chamber Orchestra, the Consort Choir, an instrumental quartet, and vocal, piano and violon solos. Pieces included Walking in the Air (Blake), Sull Aira (The Letter Duet, Mozart), Arrival of the Queen of Sheba (Handel), and a very amusing piece from Joyce Grenfell by one of our old girls.

House activities

On Sunday, the girls visited the Clothes Show in Birmingham or went ice skating to Somerset House in London.

The House Christmas parties were held in the final few days, interspersed by inter-house netball and the Senior Citizen's Party at which the elite gym squad performed and the L4 choir sang a selection of carols.

Carol Service

On the last day of term the school donned their red cloaks and travelled to Dorchester Abbey for our carol service, where we were joined by many parents, family and friends for a very moving service which celebrated the coming of light into the world.

QASPA hosted the post carol service festivities with mulled wine, mince pies and plenty of hot chocolate and we were joined by representatives from the charity we will be supporting next term, Afghan Action, who spoke to us about the work of the charity in Afghanistan and displayed some of the rugs made for sale by the people in their carpet factory.

We finally bid each other a very happy and peaceful Christmas and carried home with us many treasured memories of another Queen Anne's Christmas.
