Consort Choir sing at Winchester Cathedral

Queen Anne's Consort Choir sang Choral Evensong at Winchester Cathedral on Wednesday. For the majority of the girls, this was their first experience of taking part in a service that is unique to our Anglican choral tradition.

They sang music by Malcolm Archer, Simon Johnson and Simon Lole to an excellent standard with notable solos by Eleanor Walder, Harriet Foster and Louise Gillman-Wells. To be provided with a chance to sing in such an amazing and historic place was extremely special for the girls, and it is hoped this will become an annual occasion in Queen Anne's musical calendar.

The choir was formed a year ago to give more advanced singers the opportunity of tackling more challenging repertoire. As well as their performance at Winchester, they joined The Oratory School to perform Elgar's Dream of Gerontius in celebration of their 150th anniversary.  The Consort Choir is also booked to sing in Salisbury Cathedral in May next year.
