Careers
There is a structured careers education and guidance programme for all girls from the upper four to the upper sixth. The centre of careers and higher education is an excellent careers library which is stocked with a wealth of up to date resources: books, DVD's, leaflets, interactive software and internet access. It is well equipped with computers, TV and VHS-player.
For younger girls the emphasis is on exploring a broad spectrum of occupations and developing decision making skills. Queen Anne's Old Girls are often invited to come and talk to the girls about their chosen career path and other talks are presented by a range of speakers from various professions.
A business skills day is held annually for the lower fives which introduces girls to the world of work in a fun and interactive way.
In the upper five girls investigate the qualities, skills and qualifications required for particular opportunities. Most take the Morrisby careers analysis tests which aim to match abilities, interests and aptitudes of the individual with career possibilities. As well as group work, every girl receives individual carers counselling during the year and post 16 options are considered. At the end of the year, following their GCSE examinations, the girls undertake a week of work experience in a wide variety of professional placements.
In the sixth form the focus is on Higher Education. It is a key time of forward planning and decision making, and individual help is given with making UCAS applications. The girls are also encouraged to take part in the Young Enterprise programme which involves running their own company for a year and taking the OCR Certificate in Enterprise Level 2.
