Economics

Economics is studied in the sixth form only. At Queen Anne's we follow the OCR specification:

  • AS unit F581 Markets in Action
  • AS unit F582 The National and International Economy
  • A2 unit F583 Economics of Work and Leisure
  • A2 unit F585 The Global Economy

Keeping up to date with current economic trends is essential, thus time is spent in lessons discussing economic events; this year is a fascinating time to be studying economics, and we do spend time analysing the implications of, for example, the credit crunch. In the process of doing this we look at issues such as inflation, unemployment, exchange rates and globalisation.

In the U6, we normally attend a conference arranged specifically for A Level students in London. This is a very useful day as the girls have an opportunity to listen to politicians as well as top economists; speakers have included Tony Benn, Kenneth Clarke as well as Evan Davis.
